Earlier this week marked 10 years ago that I had a life changing event take place in my life. Growing up as a child and through Jr high, I had dreams of being a great football player. So much time and effort was put into my goal of becoming great that I would miss church regularly. My relationship with the Lord was growing cold. All this time I felt the Lord tugging at my heart because he had greater things for me. Instead of heeding to His call, I ignored it and continued to pursue my own dreams and goals. I was FINALLY going to be able to play high school football with the hopes of getting a scholarship when the Lord allowed the life changing incident to take place. I tore my ACL (major ligament in ones knee) along with tendons. My dream was shattered. I had to have total knee reconstructive surgery. But little did I know, this was all part of God's plan. Now that I was unable to play, I began to attend church regularly again and began to grow my relationship with the Lord once again. Later that year I preached my first message and God began to open up doors left and right. I stand here 10 years later because of that injury I suffered. Thanks be to God for His grace and mercy towards me! And for the honor and glory of God, I was interviewed today by the district board to be initiated into the ministry! What a mighty god we serve!
Don't make the same mistake I made. When the Lord is calling you, don't run or ignore the call. I always say my testimony is much like Jonah's. In the end, God allowed something in our lives to get our attention and to get our focus straight. As its been said, a smart person learns from their mistakes but a wise man learns from the mistake of others. Be wise! God Bless!
